However, today I decided to do some research after getting heated over a subject I really knew nothing about. In the process of doing so I steadily grew angrier as I, yet again, realized how many lies our overly partisan political parties were throwing at each other. Ninety-nine percent of my research yielded articles that were on par with a Hollywood gossip rag. What truly angered me was the realization that a nice slice of the American public reads and listens to this 'news' and most don't consider checking sources, much less looking in to the other side of the story.
This led me to question whether or not we would ever be able to mend such a wholly corrupt system. How could we when we're all so eager to buy into the bullshit, much too busy to wade past the half-truths and white lies? We assume that what we want to hear must be right. As a descendent of very proud Americans, it truly pains me to admit that while I am grateful for my roots and the sacrifices that have been made for the rights I have, I am more and more disappointed in my Country every day.
My solution? Quite simple, really. Let's just start over. We'll call in Chuck Norris and have him take care of all major corporation and big banking CEO's while he's out rounding up the politicians. We'll educate our youth, stop making loans we don't have the gold to back up, and give the country back to the community leaders that will listen to the tax-payers over the lobbyists. It could work. Then again, maybe I'm just full of stone-age dreams.

caveman.
ReplyDeletethis is precisely why i can't watch the today show, or keith olberman, or much else really. and i don't think we can mend the system, someday (hopefully really not in our lifetime) it'll just fall, like the romans. but whatever, we live in germany :)
the funny thing is, this is exactly why i watch keith olberman, rachel maddow, the daily show and the colbert report. at least there is a bit of reality thrown into these shows, and some humor to slightly assuage our fears of what is happening to this country. they all have a similar WTF?!?! perspective, yet no solutions.
ReplyDeleteso yes, i do agree with the solution you pose. lets get rid of all big business, crazy banks, absurd politions, and lets get rid of the ridiculous two party system that is completely inept at listening to one another, and lets just start over. maybe we can re-instill the ideas that our founding fathers had. it worked for them for so long before money became the determining factor of who won a seat or what bills passed and the issues of pork-barreling really started to screw this country over.
maybe the stone age is where we need to go, where there was no such thing as corrupt politicians. its times like these that make me wish i lived somewhere else.
